Its all about the chakras....

The word “chakra” originates from the Sanskrit word for wheel or spinning. They represent “force centers” or “energy centers” in which energies are exchanged between the body and the outside world. Everything we feel both positive and negative are contained within our energy field whether you are aware of it or not. To be in balance and aligned one must awaken and cleanse each of the seven chakras.
One fine afternoon I went about looking for something to feed the upset voice in my tummy. After arriving at Whole Foods and grabbing a fresh blended juice I craved more. I wanted something to feed my soul before I headed back to my busy day.
This inspired the Energy Bar Collection – a series of necklaces to feed the soul and the eyes as it sparkles from day to night!  Each necklace focuses on awakening and/or cleansing one or more of the chakras.

Letting Go...

Its been quite a while since I have posted anything but I have been away. Not on a trip or physical distraction; but rather away from my own lifes path. During the past quarter of this 30th year in my life some changes to my environment have thrown me into a whirlpool of energies, events, and interactions leaving me dizzy with questions and without a compass. Its as if I have been wandering in circles trying to get back on track and the daily stresses and mini dramas with different spirits and perceptions fogged up my glasses and everything is a blur.

The environmental change has stirred up emotions, memories, and karmatic fears that would have only surfaced due to this change. As one who needs to force herself to simply tip toe around ANY change, I jumped in and chose this  time to take a side road hoping that it was a shortcut to my destination. Although it did not take me closer to the line, it did take me to another part of life I never knew possible. Learning to let go has been my life's challenge and it is at this moment in this place of peace that I realized the art of letting go.

The more I begin to let go, the closer my Self begins to surface filling the newly open space with energies of love, laughter, and a stillness I have never before experienced.

finding inspiration

Recently as I was watching one of my favorite shows (gossip girl) they had a performance of a song I loved a year ago and find it to be more than coincidence to rediscover it now. In my last post I mentioned that finding a way to quite my  mind has been somewhat of a challenge and somehow, this live version of Cosmic Love by Florence and the Machine does it. Its the perfect pitch and melody to encourage deep breathing and to let your mind drift...

non-verbal communication

its an amazing thing to experience an emotion of the soul that is unexplainable and not caused by something material. Whilst listening to Max Richter's Nature of Daylight I felt something that was unexplainable even as I try to  logically make sense of this. How is it that one can be silenced and emotionally affected so deeply that it feels as if I am connected to all things in an immaterial way and yet there is peace coated with a sadness.

Hmmm... maybe its because its day 6 of creative insomnia or is it a confirmation that there is so much more to life that I will never be able to understand nor comprehend in this lifetime.

GINGERBREAD LATTE'S MAKE ME HAPPY!!!

So for all those who truly know me have come to understand that I not only "like" starbucks but I am truly, unimaginably, unconditionally in love with it. My favorite next to that 5 shot espresso would be the holiday drinks. And I think most will agree that the holiday season officially begins when the gingerbread latte's are on the menu!

Simply obsessed with this drink, I tried making the syrup myself and OMG, I can now have my very own latte 24/7!!!

Want to make your own? Here is the recipe:
Gingerbread Syrup:

  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 cup of sugar (or xylitol if you prefer)
  • 2t of ground ginger
  • 1/4t of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4t of pure vanilla extract
Combine all of the ingredients into a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Mix occasionally.

Once it boils, reduce the heat and let it simmer uncovered for 20-22 minutes. Don't worry if it seems thin, it will thicken once it cools.

When done, pour into a melt proof container and let it cool down.

Add to your cup of iced or hot latte/coffee based upon your preference - I used 1 and a half tablespoons but I LOVE it really spiced.
ENJOY!!!

Gratitude

With all of the things doing on now days that we continuously hear on the news, nothing really seems to be positive. The economy is unstable, recession, depression, crime, unemployment it is really a challenge to look for the silver lining in any of this. Recently I started writing 100 things that I am grateful for everyday. The first day I realized that my thinking had me focused on what was wrong rather than what I have... it was quite a challenge to think of 100 things but when I finished, I felt lighter and happier. I have been doing this for a week now and I notice that my perspective has become much more optimistic. Try it ... I highly recommend it!
